A country garden surrounded by rolling lawns,
forest and grass pastures. Mixed perennial and shrub beds, a herb
garden, bluestone terrace and meadow areas create a secluded rural
retreat.

A well-established country garden with a front
entry area combining hardy perennials, shrub roses and hydrangeas.

MEDITERRANEAN
This house was designed by Howell and Thomas
in 1916, and built around a Skinner organ in the basement. The garden
offers a blend of formal and informal elements, perennials and unusual
tropicals throughout, koi and lily ponds, a vegetable and cutting
garden.

TERRACE
A small sloping rear garden is transformed into
an elegant series of sandstone terraces featuring a classic pergola
and a small square pond in a circle of lawn.

An informal cottage garden with a koi pond,
curved stone bench and a large variety of unusual plant combinations
designed for a limited space.

LESHEBA WILDERNESS
The gardens and internal spaces are designed to integrate aesthetically and functionally with the rustic architecture and the surrounding bushveld habitat. The Colours and textures seen in the thatch huts and mud walls are echoed in the
stone work hewn from the mountainside.

GARRISON
The brief for this garden was to design a functional outdoor living space that would add dimension to the flat architectural plane of the rear façade. An elegant pergola creates a secluded cover to view the garden.A naturalistic pond was designed and installed to provide the sound of water and alter the flat level of the surrounding space.

MONTESSORI MEDITATION
This garden was requested by a private Montessori school in Hudson, Ohio. It had to conform to a restricted space between the old school building and the new architectural extension.
